The bathroom itself is a lesson in everything-in-its-place efficiency. Sleek and modern, it offers a glass-walled shower just big enough to let you get all soapy in comfort without any wasted space and a just-big-enough sink area topped with a large lighted mirror. On Sun Princess, a trip down the vessel's main entertainment drag on Deck 7 in the evening takes you past one bustling nightspot after another, from an Irish pub with live music to a comedy club that doubles as a karaoke lounge.

The biggest Princess Cruises ship ever
Neon Grove and The Underground have all the sorts of games your tweens and teens will love, from PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch consoles to foosball and air hockey tables, and they're home to movie and disco nights, scavenger hunts and the like. Firefly Park is set up for arts and crafts, themed parties and group games aimed at the little ones. In addition, younger travelers will find major new tween and teen hangout zones (called Neon Grove and The Underground, respectively) within the ship, plus a large playroom for the littlest Princess cruisers called Firefly Park. Princess regulars know what they like, and what they like isn't necessarily giant, activity-packed vessels. But that might not matter if Sun Princess succeeds in drawing in a new wave of Princess fans. The California-based line's new ship, Sun Princess, is its biggest ever by far.

You'll love it to the sun and back

As part of the leading cruise line on the west coast, Discovery Princess is now sailing on a series of Mexican Riviera and California Coast voyages from March 27 – April 24, 2022. The ship will then head up the Pacific coast to begin a season of seven-day Alaska cruises from Seattle, making her the newest ship sailing in the Alaska region. So many different styles and techniques to showcase the bounty of the sea! Here you can sample everything from the catch of the day to a raw seafood bar. A celebration of all things ocean, from the menu to the setting, from Chef Rudi Sodamin, head of culinary arts.
Cobranded Cards
The arrival of Sun Princess marks the first time Princess has launched a new class of ship in nearly 11 years. If you haven’t tried The Sanctuary yet, this is your open invitation to spend a half or full day in a retreat that’s only for adults and soaking up every bit of relaxation you can. Sip on a signature beverage, or work the knots out with an al fresco massage. In all, the vessel is designed to hold 4,300 passengers at double occupancy. Sister ship Star Princess launches in 2025, and expect a very similar ship in terms of features and concepts.
Popular Sun Princess Departure Ports
For families or groups needing a little extra space, Mini-Suites offer an appealing and affordable option. The Signature Restaurant, exclusive to suite guests, is in a busy (and noisy) public area off the ship's central Piazza on Deck 7, far from most of the biggest suites. Those accommodations are at the back of the ship on decks 15, 16 and 17. The Dome itself felt smaller than it looked in the drawings the line released in advance of the ship's debut. There was also a limited amount of space for seating during nighttime shows or lounging during the day (when it serves as a solarium-like lounge and pool space). For shows, it's billed as having a capacity of just 250, about a fourth the amount of the Princess Arena.
Sun Princess® – Talk About Exciting and New
Even if views overlook a lifeboat or a technical deck, we love to see Princess' Cruises commitment to the sea expand to its newest vessel. In many ways, Sun Princess offers more views of the sea than the line's previous Royal -class ships. Even more notably, all of these suites, dubbed the Signature Collection, come with exclusive access to a private restaurant, a two-deck-high lounge overlooking the ship's wake and an outside sun deck — a first for Princess.
The Piazza is Even Larger and More Engaging
The Signature Sun Deck, meanwhile, is just above some of the biggest suites. But it's just a breakout section of The Sanctuary, the extra-charge, adults-only lounge area found atop Princess ships. It also seems small given the number of people staying in Signature suites (100, assuming two people for each of the ship's 50 suites).
The Dome is multi-level, covered and is really a first of a kind enclosure that is multi-functional, so in the day it's a place to relax, read and have a coffee, while basking in the sunshine streaming through the glass. It also heralds a brand-new class, Sphere Class, so called for the eye-catching Sphere which encases the centre of the ship, lets the light flood in and provides stunning sea views. Other small changes aboard Sun Princess are still present, including the renaming of Kai Sushi by Makoto to Makoto Ocean -- a last-minute change that will require the ship's signage to be swapped out at some point. Until then, the venue is referred to by both terms depending on which source you read (the website, deck plan or Princess Patter).
In addition to all the new features, several past Princess favorites have returned aboard Sun Princess. From rejuvenating spa treatments and the tranquility of a top-deck retreat reserved just for adults to our state-of-the-art fitness centers, you’ll find all the elements to come back new. This epic, seven-course journey blends storytelling with inspired visuals, rousing music, spectacular cuisine, aromatic scents and immersive technology to transport you to the hilltops of Santorini, the Amalfi Coast, Barcelona and Provence.
On Regal Princess all Full Suites and Reserve Collection staterooms have been updated and we are continuing to convert the few remaining beds. Step into Crooners bar and be transported to the classic Sinatra era, made complete with a top notch pianist singing tunes and tickling the ivories. The “Rat Pack” atmosphere and famous menu of signature martinis, and old-school mixed drinks will have you crooning. Take a dip in our sparkling freshwater pools and leave your everyday world behind. Unwind on a padded lounger and soak up the sun, catch up on reading, listen to music or dream of your next adventure on board or ashore.
